Meet Sophie:
Hi! I'm Sophie, a 2L who graduated from Mizzou in 2023. As a first-gen law student, I wasn't entirely sure law school was right for me, so I took some time before applying to law school to work as a court clerk. When I visited UC Irvine during Admitted Students Weekend, I realized not only could I fit in and receive a nationally recognized and cutting edge legal education, but I also would flourish as I learn here.

While I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, I participated in a wide variety of activism and direct action, which led to my interest in using the law to help people who traditionally have less access to affordable legal services. UC Irvine's holistic legal education fulfilled my goals to gain practical experience under the supervision of amazing lawyers, and to continue to meaningfully engage with my community. During my first year in law school, I volunteered with Saturday Academy of Law, SSI Clinic, and SoCal Chinese Lawyers Association Legal Clinic. This past summer, I externed at USPS’s Employment Law Section, developing my legal writing skills by drafting motions for summary judgment, discovery, and other filings on behalf of USPS for matters before the EEOC and OFS.

In my free time outside of studying, I do birding, nature photography, and piano. I am thrilled not only to assuage any concerns and answer questions about my UC Irvine experience, but also to learn about you!
